this country, like latvia, belonged to sweden thil the xvii late century before was conquered by peter the great which wanted to make russia a great nation and russian stayed til 90 years ago when, after the wwi, the baltic states gained indpendence and these was finaly lost when russia, which was then a germany nazi allye, regained them and finaly become independent after the colapse of comunism
